It's lonely at the top.

When you are an officer's wife, one thing is bound to happen at some certain point: A higher ranking officer's wife will remind you to be careful what you say and follow it up with the ol' cliche, "It's lonely at the top."

It's actually very annoying. Mostly because it's so frickin' true.

And I got a real-world lesson in that this week. And what sucks is that I really did think it was someone I could trust.

Bleh.

It's funny that you posted that. I'm always worried that my big mouth is going to get me into trouble. Well, not here, because there don't seem to be any other military spouses. Hmm, I don't know if that's a bad thing or a good thing now...

I with you with the bleh, I am here at the bottom "not allowed" to make friends. The guy that lives across the hall is a million ranks above us and only I talk to him. Adam and him pretend like each other don't exist. It's so weird to me. I get it, but still it awkward nonetheless.

Oh dear, I'm sorry. My sweetie warns me about this, and I've always hoped he was a little paranoid. I'm sorry to discover that he's not. I hope it blows over quickly for you.
